The law states that a compromise agreement is only valid if you have had legal advice on it. You cannot choose to forego your right to legal advice. This is to protect employees from the danger of signing away their rights without a proper understanding of what they are doing. There are various requirements that a legal adviser must fulfil. All of our solicitors at Advantage Employment Law are fully qualified to meet those requirements and have extensive experience of advising all types of employees from around the UK. We will provide confirmation to your employer that we have advised you on the compromise agreement, either by counter-signing the compromise agreement or sending a letter of confirmation. Usually, the employer agrees to pay your legal costs and there is no charge to you for our advice. |
