Do I have to agree to the compromise agreement ?

No.

There is no legal or other obligation on you to sign a compromise agreement if you are not happy with it.

We will advise you as to whether you should sign the compromise agreement or not. Our advice will be based on our opinion of what you should be entitled to on termination and whether you are likely to have a strong case for unfair dismissal.

You are free to decide whether to accept the compromise agreement or not.

Refusing to sign would mean that there is no agreement between you and your employer and you would maintain your right to pursue any employment related claim that may be appropriate.

Our solicitors will be able to advise you in respect of any Employment Tribunal claim that you wish to bring, including unfair dismissal, discrimination, breach of contract etc. Please click on the links at the foot of this page for further details.

Once a compromise agreement has been signed by all parties, it becomes a legally binding agreement. It can be enforced through the courts or the employment tribunal. The payment date will be specified in the agreement.
